A
PROUD PAST - SECURING THE FUTURE
In the Early Nineties, David Stadler, the founder of
STABILOC invented a biometrically interfaced anti-hijacking
system for motor vehicles. Using Speaker Voice verification,
he developed a technology that allowed only the legitimate
driver of a vehicle normal operation without broadcasting
alarms, and limiting of speed.
In 2001 he learned of a problem that occurred during
the Grand Prix in Detroit, MI. As the high-speed cars
traversed over a manhole, the vacuum created would literally
lift a manhole cover out of its frame, and present a
hazard to following vehicles. He also learned that scavengers
stole manhole covers and sold them for their scrap value
to unscrupulous dealers.
He determined that there was an acute need for a simple
lock that could be retrofitted to existing manhole covers.
Prototypes were made and tested. The concept was basic
to manhole cover security and would lend itself well
to a growing need. That need expanded geometrically
with the horror of 9/11. He named the device STABILOC
since it both locked the manhole cover against its seat,
and stabilized the cover within its frame. Now STABILOC
is a registered trademark of STABILOC LLC and STABILOC
has received a United States patent for this system.
STABILOC continues on a relentless path to develop
new security products. Soon to be unveiled are telescoping
stainless steel vehicle stopping security bollard and
a cargo container lock with a biometrically interfaced
identification system. These STABILOC products are value
engineered to be new weapons in our arsenal against
terrorism.
