Stabiloc™ is installed into an existing manhole cover by drilling two holes into the lid, near the edges. The Stabiloc™ system is then installed into the holes. The mechnism secures the manhole cover to the frame with latch, then protects the latch mechanism with a bolt, which is then covered by a plastic tamper-evident seal.
The bolt can be custom-tooled, so that it can only be turned with a specialty wrench. This durable mechanism can effectively prevent theft and unauthorized access to utilities for years, even on road surfaces which experience heavy traffic.
